Big spendersIf you want to seriously flash some plastic, jump on the Piccadilly line (or give your chaffeur a call) and head for Knightsbridge. Here you'll find Harrods and Harvey Nichols with their almost identical outlandish window displays, famous food halls and VIP shopping experiences as well as lots of other designer flagship stores like Burberry and Swarovski on Brompton Road.
Bond Street and Mayfair look like something else - pristine shop fronts with glorious scents coming out of them and made-up ladies clip clopping down the streets. Dress up smartly if you want to browse through Fortnam and Masons, at 181 Piccadilly and famous for its hampers, or other similarly old-fashioned department stores in the Piccadilly area as even the staff look immaculate.
Or alternatively...For a bargain, try a market or two but generally areas like Bermondsey, Brixton and Whitechapel in South and East London will be cheaper for everything - including food.
